January 2008 Entries
I am still amazed that I am keeping up with the LOAD challenge over at BPS http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com/ Here are my latest LOAD pages from the past week: 19: GA jumping off the 3 meter diving board 20: Imac's first hair cut 21: Sarasota beach last year 22: page 2 of Sarasota beach 23: November Fest at Nativity Catholic Church, 2006 24: 2nd page of November Fest, 2006 25: quick page about the Moon and how GA loves looking at the moon and some of the lyrics to a song by Laurie Berkner http://www.twotomatoes.com/site/ called "Moon, Moon, Moon" 26: cover page for Imac's album 27: similar style to the one above, I just love this paper from Creative Memories. So sweet and perfect for girls. Anyway, this one is just for us being blessed by having GA. 4 days left of LOAD. I think I will miss having the challenge of a deadline to complete a page or two. Hopefully it has become a habit that I will continue for a long time.
GA received a butterfly habitat for a birthday gift in September, 2007. We ordered the caterpillars in November. They arrived, but were all dead. Poor caterpillars and poor GA. I called the company www.Carolina.com and explained what happened. They immediately sent more caterpillars via Fed Ex 2 day. We got the second batch of caterpillars and a few of them were moving but not all and by the second day there was no movement at all. I waited a few more days to see if they were "in shock". Still nothing. I contacted Carolina again and spoke to one of the biologists there, explained what happened and she graciously sent another batch of caterpillars. Third times a charm, I guess, because the third batch arrived and there were 6 very active caterpillars. They remained active, eating most of the food in the cup and doing what they should be doing. In the end, 4 of the 6 caterpillars climbed to the top, attached to the cloth and hung upside down to form their chrysalises. We then moved them into the Butterfly Habitat to wait for the butterflies to emerge..... We did this on Sunday, January 20th. Today, January 25th our first Butterfly emerged!!! The red stuff is just a waste product, not blood, but it still looks pretty gross. I expect the other 3 will emerge in the next day or two. How exciting!
I'm amazed that I am still keeping up with the LOAD challenge! It has been great incorporating art into my every day life. Day 14: me at the range for the first time. Was able to use one of the Bazzil kits from CKU 15: Another Bazzil kit from CKU. Park play with GA 16: Page 1 of Sugar Bowl game 2007 with my brother 17: Page 2 of Sugar Bowl 18: Imac's first day of preschool/mom's day out 2007 13 days to go!
I celebrated a friend's birthday today at Tussie Mussie's Tea Room http://www.tussiemussietea.com/ in Valrico. So good! We had a 5 course lunch that included 1) to die for scones and Devonshire creme 2) white onion, leek & thyme soup topped with a fontina cheese crostini 3) half a dagwood sandwich 4) spring greens salad with balsamic vinaigrette and 5) warm chocolate cake made with kahlua and coffee. It was a great way to celebrate friendship with a nice relaxing tea & lunch. Oh, and the tea was the Paris blend - which is my favorite so far.
with the LOAD challenge! It's been hard the past few days, but I've been trying my best to keep on going. 13 days down, 18 days to go! Day 10: Day 11: Day 12: Day 13:
Here are days 7 & 8: These are from my baby shower when I was pregnant with Irelyn in 2005! I can't believe I was about 3 weeks away from having her in these photos.
I am loving this layout I created today! It is not my normal "style" but I love the tone on tone and muted colors. I received some goodies from Luxe http://www.luxedesigns.com/ last month and I finally got to play with them. So fun and I think I am hooked!
I decided to join at LayOut A Day challenge in January over at www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com The goal is to do a layout each day for the month of January - 31 layouts! So far, I have been doing great creating a layout every day. I hope I can keep it up! Here are days 2-6: Day 2 & 3: 2007 Strawberry festival Day 4 & 5: Go, Diego, Go Live show - 2007 Day 6: Gunner the guinea pig. This layout only took about 20 minutes to put together, and I think it turned out pretty cute. More to come......
