April 2008 Entries

GA has been dying, DYING, to have some sort of drink stand in front of the house. We recently bought some of those sugar free Hawaiian Punch singles that you mix into your bottled water. The girls both love it (and it's getting Imac to actually DRINK water). Friday night GA asks if she can have a Hawaiian Punch stand on Saturday. Sure, I say. We'll do it in the morning after breakfast.

Saturday morning after breakfast we whip up a big pitcher full of Hawaiian Punch flavored water, grab the card table, a couple of chairs, some cups and GA made a sign:

Business started off great as one of the neighbors who runs through the neighborhood daily stopped and gave a $1 donation to the "entrepreneur" even though she couldn't take the drink with her. Next up, our next door neighbors who purchased one cup for $1. Awesome! GA was so thrilled:

After about an hour of sitting outside, she made at total of $3.25. Not too bad for a 5 year old!

Headed over to the Grandparents' community (heated) pool on Sunday. The pool was the perfect temp - the kind where you can just walk in and not get any shiver at all. Perfect.

GA started off thinking she couldn't remember how to swim. The problem was she was able to touch in the shallow (3 ft.) end and was relying on that. We moved down to the deep (6 ft) end of the pool and she remembered what to do and by the end of the hour was swimming the width of the pool! So proud!

Imac had on a swim vest and arm floaties and did great, too! We took the vest off after about 20 minutes or so and she actually did pretty well with using her arms to keep herself afloat. Her absolute favorite thing of the day was jumping in the pool.  Jump in, climb out, jump in, climb out - about 100 times. I was treading water in the deep end in order to catch her and push her back to the wall of the pool - my poor legs were so sore the next day! If we had a pool I would be in terrific shape, I think ;)

I didn't intend to skip blogging for a month, but, it happened! Let me try to recap what we've been doing:

IMG_3384 GA's first trip to the Magic Kingdom! We decided to go for our 7th Anniversary (March 10th) since R hasn't been since he was GA's age and I haven't been in about 15 years. We just went for the day since we left Imac with my parents.

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom around 8:45am and stayed until 10pm. Caught the bus back to our room at Port Orleans and crashed! What a long day, but SO much fun!

GA was such a brave girl, at age 5, and rode Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, and more! Her favorite rides were Splash Mountain and Goofy's BarnStormer roller coaster. GA got to meet 4 of the Disney princesses and was beyond excited about it!

The next day we headed to Downtown Disney Marketplace. GA had gotten a gift card for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to have a Princess Makeover! She L-O-V-E-D this!

We spent 4 days at home and then headed to Atlanta, GA to visit R's mom for Spring Break. It was a nice visit and the girls loved spending time with Grandma J. We got to spend the day at Stone Mountain Park before heading home. Both kids traveled well and made the trip so much more enjoyable.

Now we're home and back to reality and busy as always!
